USA's guide data continues to piss me off. My DirecTivo didn't record Prison Break tonight. The reason was that a higher priority season pass was recorded instead.

What I got instead was a slew of various Law&Order reruns, all today, all on USA. With crappy guide data my FRO passes picked them all up.

I've had it with USA, I'm going to just tell my primary TiVo that USA is a channel I don't receive, then tell my secondard TiVo to record the USA repeats of House. Once I've caught up with the House episodes I haven't seen I'll be able to pull the plug on it until Monk shows up again.

For the very few things I watch on USA it's almost not worth it to deal with missing or extra stuff due to lame guide data. When I only watch one show at a time on their channel it's probably less trouble to just use BT for anything on USA.

Why wouldn't you do a channel-specific season pass rather than a Title/Wishlist? You're never going to find a *new* L&O on USA.

But, on a related tangent, I did just cancel my Monk season pass because of the same bad guide data.

But, on a related tangent, I did just cancel my Monk season pass because of the same bad guide data.

Years ago I'd created an ARWL for "Law&Order", first run only. It's worked for all the variations, including the trial by jury one. When I moved and channel #s changed, no problem.

USA screwed me. I just did go create new SPs for the three current L&Os and deleted the wishlist. I'd reviewed my ToDo list and 5-6 L&Os a day on USA were trashing my recordings like a tornado through a trailer park.

I went ahead and just made USA a channel I don't receive while I was at it. Always frustrating to have some old movie I've been wanting to see show up there hacked and slashed with commericals ( worse than AMC ). I'll let my other TiVo deal with it for a little while longer while I catch up on old House episodes.

Wishlists jump above everything on season passes right?

I almost never use wishlists, so I don't have a problem with that.

I also noticed some Monk marathon in a couple of weeks on USA, when I have first run only.

Since you brought up the subject of guide data, I would like to say I wish these channels (or whoever is in charge of guide data) to please list a description of the episode instead of the generic synopsis of the show. I am sick of seeing dozens of episodes each week of Degrassi, Tiara Girls, Super Sweet 16, etc. in my To Do List!!

They don't jump above season passes, each wishlist shows up in your Season Pass Manager just like another season pass, and only if you have it set to auto-record. You can have them set to not auto-record and just check every week or two to see if they found what you want and you can manually set it to record.
Wishlists are very handy. I had the single wishlist for all the L&Os. They are also good for something that might be on HBO-E, HBO-W, HBO2-E, HBO2-W. By using a wishlist for those programs you avoid conflicts if something is moved around or becomes a 2hr special. You avoid having something missed completely because Sopranos recorded at 6PM when could just have easlily been recorded at 9PM ( or 9 and midnight on the east coast ) When it works, all those showings of Sopranos for the first week would be identified by the guide data as first run, but the 28-day rule keeps you from accidently recording all of them.

Wishlists are also the only way to search for a favorite actress, actor or movie that might not be on in the next two weeks. I have high priority wishlists for movies that aren't available on home video and haven't shown on TV in at least the last 4-5 years. If you don't catch those when they show up you don't have the option of just renting or buying them so you need to be on the look out.

The same generic guide data is part of what hoses you if you're looking for FRO programs. It also makes the 28-day rule useless since the TiVo can't tell if it's recording the same thing over and over again or not.

Checking your 'To Do List' once in a while can help prevent such things from happening.

I am obsessive about checking the To Do List for this because we have a lot of cable shows with SPs that show multiple showings. It becomes very tedius to have to manually delete these episodes though.
