On my system, WMP does not play the audio track on .tivo files. It plays the video fine.
Other files (non .tivo) play the audio fine. The audio in the .tivo files plays ok when I use MyDVD.
I have downloaded the latest Cole2K codec pack and have the latest WMP 10 version.
I have a P4 running WinXP Home.
Thanks.

I have this same problem. I'm pretty sure one of the codecs got screwed up when I changed my system. I haven't bothered to research it too much as I'm hopin' it gets fixed when I format and reload my system in a few months(this isn't the only problem I have with it).

Are these .tivo files from a regular TiVo or one with a built in DVD recorder? Because if they're from a DVDTiVo if you download and install AC3Filter (http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/) it should fix the problem.

It is a DVD tivo, but it worked fine previously without d/ling that. I will give it a try sometime this wk, though.

The only other thing it could be is the demultiplexer filter. Windows has one built in that works with both MP2 and AC3 audio. However it's possible you installed something that installed one which does not support AC3 and assigned it a higher merit. If you want to investigate the problem download GraphEdit (http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=GraphEdit) and render a .tivo file in it. That will show you all the filters WMP will use when attempting to play a .tivo file. If any of the filter chain is broken then you should know which filter is not working properly and you can manually uninstall it using something like the Radlight Filter Manager (http://www.radlight.org/products/filter_manager/index.php)

I have a similar problem to those I have seen here, in that I have issues with my codecs. When playing a .tivo file which seems to have no audio, I look up Properties (via right-click) in WMP 10, and it shows no audio codec. I upgraded from WMP 9 in an attempt to fix the problem, but still persists in WMP 10.
The crazy thing is that only some of my files have no audio. These are the first four files I have transferred to my laptop, all four were recorded from the same TiVo, two back-to-back from each other (last Tuesday's "The Unit" finale eps). Two of the four have audio, and two don't. Now I can understand if they all do, or don't, but just some?!?!? The ones that work properly show the InterVideo Audio Codec for audio, and same mfgr video. I have uninstalled the WinDVD supplied by Dell and installed InterVideo DVDXPack, but same issue. Any thoughts?

Just download AC3 filter full downlaod and you can hear all the audio on TIVO extension transfers.
