Is such a critter available yet?

Are Toshiba and Human going to upgrade their lines?

Did those of us who rushed to put lifetimes on our 2nd units back in February blow it?

No

unknown, but doubtful on the analog Series 2 line.
The series 3 line presents the problem of burning HD to DVD and which format HD-DVD or Blu-Ray becomes dominant. I predict a wait on a DVD burner for series 3 as well.

No - you now have a great DVR and will never pay another cent to have it do exactly what it you bought it to do. Also

I have the Humax 80 gig TiVo with DVD burner and love it. The only thing that would make it better is another tuner and built-in ethernet! I still think that there are enough people out there that would buy that kind of box if the price was right.

I've had the Toshiba 80G Series 2 Tivo with DVD burner for about 18 months. It is spectacular and never misses a beat. The software upgrades via the web for Tivo to Go and Galleon work very well. Can even access my songs and podcasts from the iTunes directory on my PC, as well as so many other applications.

I wouldn't say -doubtful- about anything.

A year or 2 ago people were saying - I want a dual tuner Series2 Tivo !! A lot of people said - It'll never happen ! It would be to expensive !!

For gosh sakes, the 2 tuner TiVo was only offically released today(May 1st) let's give them some time before a 2 tuner with a DVD burner is released. Maybe one will be sold one day, maybe not.

I wonder if there was this much excitement when the 2 slot toaster was released ?
Question asked the same day - When will they make a 4 slot toaster ?!!

Actually back then I did ask the question. I had just gotten lifetime warranty service on a 4-slot toaster holding rack (the kind you put inside your oven) (it worked much better than the 2 slot toasters that were coming out). But I was worried that it was about to become obsolete as soon as a 4-slot regular toaster came out. And that I had just blown $$ on the holding rack. :)

I'm not chomping at the bit for a dual tuner burner; just the opposite, the longer it takes them, the more I'll feel good that I put lifetime on the TiVo/DVD burner!

wow - I'm impressed!

Its not everyday someone compares Big Electronic Gizmo to Stupid Household Appliance (TiVo vs. Toaster) and then gets back a Real-World True Story about said Stupid Household Appliance.

I love it! (c:

p.s. I'm not implying your toaster is stupid. Simply that its low-tech, which was precisely the point. lol

What's really impressive is that he can remember that far back. Those 2 slot toasters came out in the 1910s and 20s! :)

(But why would you need to host your toast?)

My favorite one on this is the Calvin & Hobbes cartoon where they discover that you can put bread into a toaster and out comes TOAST! They marvel at it and wonder where the bread went!

True story? Tongue-in-cheek, of course! :)
