I've read about 40 posts, and can't find a direct answer.

I bought a used Phillips DSR704 and put 2 .. 250 GB harddrives in it.

I bought the InstantCake iso from PTV..
I also got the PTVnet iso.

My install order was:

InstantCake...then an immediate PTVnet (from my burned cd).

I cleared and deleted everything.

I called Tivo, and got the unit onto my account.

But I can't get the USB to network.

I have a linksys USB100M (yes..100).

..

I can't get a ip address from the router. No issues with the router or cable or anything like that, as I can take the same usb100m and plug it into my laptop, and it works.

Is the usb100m not a match?

Do I need to run the PTVnet cd again?

Or something else?

I'm lost on why the network won't work.

Thanks....

when you ran the PTVnet disc, did you say "yes" to using high speed/2.0 usb drivers? if so, this seems to disable usb 1.1 drivers. the linksys USB100M is usb 1.1. I ran into this myself the other day. if this is the case, just re run everything, but say no to that part, and keep the usb 1.1 drivers.

Yes, I did say yes to the 2.0 USB drivers.

..

I'll give that a try, or maybe I'll just pick up a USB200M.

THANKS for the TIP... It would have taken alot of trial and error to figure that one out.

The corect way to install them is PTVNet first, then insert InstantCake when it asks; that alleviates the need for a "Clear and Delete Everything" (and saves a few hours of your time).
