"Frozen" upgraded TiVo box

Unfortunately after so many of you helped me through the gyrations of my HD upgrade on my TCD240080 I'm back for more assistance.

I replaced the hard drive with a Maxtor 250 about two weeks ago.

Now I'm back with another problem with this unit:(

Everything was working fine - shows were recording and I was watching them for about a week. Then I didn't use it for about a week and when I went to watch it today it was just a black screen - almost as if I left if paused on a blank frame (maybe I did, maybe not).

Well, I unplugged it, waited a moment and plugged it back in - it hung on "Powering Up..." for over an hour.

I unplugged it, waited about 25 minutes and plugged it back in - all back to normal :)

I started watching a show, got a call and paused it - well you guessed it, when I came back a few hours later it was absolutely STUCK on the paused image from the show :(

Once again, I unplugged it for about 5 minutes and once again it's hanging on the "Powering Up..." screen more than a half hour later.

Any advice for the weary?

What model Maxtor is it? Some of the DiamondMax 10s don't seem to work very well in a Tivo.

It's a Maxtor Ultra16 250GB 16MB cache 7200 RPM and lists the following features: MHX acceleration for ultra performance, Ultra Performance ATA/133, Ultra Quiet FDB Motor. As a side note, it did run nice and quietly - ;) even when it did work

It hung on two more attempts at restarting - once it stopped on the roller coaster portion and the other has been stuck on "One more moment" for more than 6 hours.

So, I guess the drive definitely needs to be replaced the question is - did I buy the wrong item, mess up the installation or just end up with a bad disk?

Reimage the drive. Lots of times this solves all sorts of problems.
