I've been using a Series 1 Tivo and recently got a Series 2. I want to move the shows on my Series 1 to my Series 2. Is there a way to do this?
Thanks.

Yes.

You will need to buy an internal network card for the Series 1 and hack the software.

Ok, I'm admittedly a noob. How do I do this? I have a bunch of programming on my Series 1 SA that I want to move to my S2DT. I know I could hook it up via RCA cables and play from the Series 1 and manually record on the DT, (at least I think I can, I've obviously never tried it) but I don't want to further degrade the recording and I don't want to lose the real title and recording date in my Now Playing list. (hope I'm not sounding hard to deal with)

1) Is there any way to temporarily set up my Series 1 drive as a B drive on the DT? Probably the only thing I don't like about the DT is there appareantly isn't any room to add a B drive.

2) My tivo to go is working great so should I try to transfer the shows first to my PC? If so, how do I get them in the proper format as a tivo to go program so I could send it back to my DT?

3) Is there any way to merge the programs from my Series 1 drive and my DT hard drive and then put the drive with the combined programs back into the DT? The DT is only 80 hours so I would love to upgrade the drive at the same time if this can be done.

I don't know what a bash prompt is and am only vagely familiar with terms such as MFS Tools, Zippering, and the like. I have dropped a pre-blessed B drive into my Series 1 with success. The inside of a PC doesn't scare me, however, I am not gifted in the software/programming areas. Just to give you some idea of my abilities (or lack thereof).

Please help with some or all the above. Thanks.

Mick thanks for the link, but I went there and couldn't find a discussion on the questions I had asked.

1. No.
2. There is no TiVoToGo on the S1 at all. If you mean your S1 is hacked and you can transfer shows from it to your PC, then they should already be in an MPEG2 format playable on the S2. You could just use TiVoToComeBack to transfer to the S2.
3. No.

The S1 and S2 systems use completely different processors (PowerPC and MIPS) with different microarchitectures, different byte order, just completely incompatible. So you will never be able to use the drive from one in the other, except by completely wiping and reformatting. So 1 & 3 are impossible.

Now, as for Mick66's post, I believe the point is that you're basically asking for hacking related questions - transfers from an S1, upgrading, etc, and therefore if you want help you really should post in the hacking forum instead.

Then start a discussion in that (the appropriate) forum.

You can play back on the S1 and record on the S2 using the video inputs (if the S2 is setup for cable box or satellite).

Everything gets labeled as a manual recording.
