here is my ultimate goal:
i want to save all of the programs that i want to keep for long term off of my TIVO to one central location (server).
then i want to be able to access any of my content from any room in the house.
i would also like to take the content with me and watch it on my ipod or PC when i travel.
what are my options?

Sounds like TiVoToGo is your answer. You can use it to download the videos to your computer using TiVo Desktop. TiVo desktop can serve those videos back to the TiVos you have in each room.
There are tools available that will let you convert the files for your iPod and then you can place them in iTunes for loading.
Any Computer with TiVo Desktop on it will be able to play back the videos in Windows Media Player.

Ok I have 2 Tivos and a desktop and a laptop.. My desktop has a 120 external HD.. I am getting a DT soon and need to transfer about 30 progams to either my laptop desktop other tivo which ever will fit where.. I know once before on my laptop with a 40 gig HD after so many shows it said out of space.. Is there a way I can transfer shows to go to my 120 external HD that is hooked up to my desktop.. Both the desktop and the laptop have Tivo2go.. So I can transfer them back to my Tivo when I get the DT? I have only transferred watched and deleted.. I never tried to transfer back..

The desktop running TiVo Desktop will show up at the bottom of the now playing list. It will list the shows in its My TiVo recordings folder. If you can't make TiVo Desktop recognize an external drive for a My TiVo recordings location, you may have to move the files on and off the external drive by hand.

Oh so once the shows are downloaded I can find them in a folder and copy them to my external drive? Thanks for the info.. So far I have 12 shows that transferred and about 5 or 6 left of this one show.. I let it go overnight but I woke up to it saying no connection could me made the target machine actively refused it... But I deleted where it locked up and am starting over and it is working now.. I am also transferring a program from my BR to my LR Tivo besides transferring to my desktop... Will it do both at once? I guess if it does it may be slow.. But maybe all of these episodes will fit on my desktop so I may be ok.. But if I am not going to watch them for a while I may put them on my external.. I don't really want to transfer them back to my new Tivo which I am not even sure I can do.. I need to find my recordings folder is that correct? Thanks Again, Rose
