can i restore an image to a different tivo box

Hi All,

I own 2 tivo 1 units. The are both philips.

Unfortunately, one of the units died (the drive is completely shot) and I don't have a backup image of it.

What would be the result of making an image of my working tivo and then restoring it into the old one?

Would it work?

Can the 2 tivo's coexist?

As long as the two tivos are the same model (the first three numbers of the Tivo Service number), you should be able to.

You would then have a second tivo. The service numbers are stored on the main board, so they will still each have their own service numbers.

They will co-exist fine - you might need to give them different remote codes if they are in the same room.

Any Philips HDR-xxx or PTVxxx can use an image from any other HDR or PTV model. That includes using an image from a PTV model on a HDR model and vice versa.
