I've had my TiVo for a 6 days now and I'm pretty unhappy. First off I have DirecTV D11 receiver and the TiVo will not consistently change the channels. I can go through the setup process and while I'm in the room it will not miss a channel. Then I'll come home at night and see that it didn't record any of my shows because it didn't properly change the channel

I've tried all sorts of different positions on the transmitter, starting of course with the reccomended.

Should I send it back and just get a DTV DVR?

Would it be worth it to invest in the newest DTV HD DVR, maybe a hacked one?

If you are up from giving TiVo one more chance you can try this.

It depends how much you want the Series 2 network features, or your willingness to hack. I'd go for the DirecTV DVRs ahd hack them.

Do you live alone? It could be possible someone is changing channels on the box. I know my wife sometimes decides that she doesn't want to sit through Doctor Who and changes the channel, thus screwing up my recording.
