Am buying an OEM DVD burner so need to buy the software seperately. I know Nero 7 Ultra is the newest, but Nero 6 Ultra is a hell of a lot cheaper, does Nero 6 Ultra work well with Tivo burnings? I'll be editing it with VideoRedo. I'd rather pay less as I'm not going to be doing hundreds of burns, just stuff here and there, I'm not a master media freak, just a casual home burner, don't need all the bells and wistles, just something to burn a DVD without troubles. Thanks.

There a 3 versions (aka suites) or the OEM Nero. (see link below for examples)

Which you get determines it funtionality. It you get the version without the DVD Plug-in you will have to pay extra to upgrade to it.
Don't forget you can also upgrade the software to latest build (including Nero Vision Express 2->NVE 3 part of upgrade package #2) here:

Edit: Sorry, I read your post wrong. You are not buying an OEM copy of Nero, but the Ultra Edition? Never noticed it to be much cheaper than 7 Ultra.
Make sure you use VideoRedo or DSD to remove the DRM or you'll run into problems with Nero.

Actually, the OEM version looks like it'll do what I need, thanks for the info. Kinda new to burning software, Ultra Ed was just the first I found.
Thanks again.

I am using an OEM version of Nero 6 with Nero Express Vision 3. I am using a two step process to first export the TIVO file to an MPEG 2 file and then burn a DVD from that file. When I do the export, there is a significant loss in volume of the audio in the resulting MPEG-2 file. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? Do I need a different version of NVE?

TivoDesktop has a Audio Boost setting under File->Preferences. See if that makes a difference. Perhaps when you are running DSD (that is how you are getting the mpg file, right?) it is using that setting since it internally is using the Tivodesktop.dll/directshow stuff.

Oh this drove me nuts! And I didn't realise it until after I had wasted hours on video editing, and saving, then deleting the masters! What a doofis I was!
The problem could very well be with Nero!! I found a update I used lowered the volume to 1/3 its former level. It took several emails back and forth before Ahead (Nero) would admit to the so called problem. The last e-mail I had from them said they decided to reduce the volume on purpose to provide higher quality DVD burns. Pooh I say!
To resolve the problem you have 2 choices,
1) when you bring you video file into the editor, you must bring up the properties on the file (right click on it in the edit window) and increase the volume there. I found a much higher noise floor occurred when I increased the gain at the TiVo end, This is NOT TiVo fault!!
2) The other thing you can do (which is what I did) was to revert to a older version of Nero Video and dropped back down to "NVE-3.1.0.14a.exe" because it was too much a pain to have to remember I had to increase the properties on every single video file I touched.
Yes I did pay for my full blown copy of Nero (upgrading from a OEM price wasn't bad) but I have turned off the "auto update feature" due to this waste of time it caused me, and having to locate those videos again to re-record so I can burn to disc.

Interesting.
Just to be a little clearer (I had trouble finding it), you must right-click the scene in the storyboard window.
On my machine using Nero Vision 4 the slider is by default at 100%, but that is only the middle of the slider bar. I can slide it clear up to 200%. What does yours default to and what is a good setting to use for burning DVDs?
