I have a series 2 tivo, and seem to be having some audio issues. The shows have a scratchy distorted sound. I have tried replacing cables, switching between RCA and coaxial, and swapping out the cable box. THe audio is scratchy if I transfer it to another Tivo in the house. The only time there is not an audio issue is if I transfer a recording to the Tivo.

I would appreciate any help or suggestions. The only thread I found was an archived reference to a similar issue that required deleting all of my shows and resetting the system. Which I do not think is a real solution since the premise was that the audio was corrupt and playing them continued the problem, and I had no issue with my other tivo if I transferred the scratchy files to it.

Thanks for any help!

Cheers
Jason

I guess it's possible this is the "kazoo audio" problem (it's been so long since I've heard it, so I don't really remember whether or not "scratchy audio" would also be accurate)... If so, rebooting the TiVo should take care of it (any programs recorded during the "kazoo" problem will still have the problem, IIRC).

Hi.

I had the "Kazoo" audio problem when I got my first TIVO a few years back. It was SO annoying. Nothing would fix it. Replacing the TIVO with another still did nothing.

Turns out that when I hooked up with cable box to the TIVO something happened to the cable box. IT was causing the sound problem and not the TIVO.

A year later I got another TIVO and sure enough, messing with the cable box did something to it as well, and I had to replace that cable box as well.

Maybe Scientific Atlanta makes cheap boxes???

Have you considered this? Try and connect the TIVO w/o the cable box and see what happens.
