I have a failing hard drive, so I am going to need to replace it. I am wondering what type of hard drive I should get. Is there any brand/speed that is better than others. Do I get ATA 100 or 133?

Also, is there any practical advantage to the Maxtor Quickview drives. I was going to order from Newegg, but dont' see quickviews for sale there.

Also, just to make sure, my hdvr2 will handle a 250 gb with no problems, correct?

Either ATA100 or 133 will work fine. Latter is backwards compatible. In my opinion the one year only warranty on Maxtors makes them quite low on my list, and overrides any potential advantage. Seagates have the best warranty (5 years) but are bit more noisy. Hitachi's and Western Digital are quieter and have 3 year warranties. Finally, Samsung is the quietest and has 3 year warranty. Any series two will handle 250GB or more fine.
