Well, now. Things are gettin' sticky in this sleepy, muggy little hamlet.

Park Ranger Boy is a little slow on the uptake, but I think he's finally realizing that this is much bigger than he thought.

The High Sheriff is basically just sticking his finger in the dike, in a valiant, (but vain) attempt to hold things together.

Gotta feel for Jesse. If normal adolescence is tough, his is ramped up to about a 7.5 on the Richter scale.

And Mariel, I think she's about to drink the Kool AId.

Nice touch with The Doors' 'Riders on The Storm', BTW.

So the sheriff didn't have that feeling about the coming hurricane like the others did?

I sure hope this show doesn't leave us hanging then get canceled.

I am not sure how, but my season pass missed it (wife must have canceled the recording, unknowingly...). Does anyone know if they re-air them on any other channels?

Wow, it took a whyle but the show is really starting to speed up. It is going to be interesting to see just how much the government knows. If they are in on Zuras plans or just ex-partners.

so is this a take over the world thing or what? :) I guess i'm thinking too far ahead but the whole thing seems a bit silly. I know independence day was about 2 hours but this seems to be pretty much the same thing and it's taking 100 hours. Obviously it's not a secret infiltration or we never would have known about the 'changed' people.

i just can't see where all this is going.

Well, ID4 was all about total domination and destruction. Much like the original "War of The Worlds." They didn't really care who knew what or when. They wanted to exterminate the indigenous population, suck up all the natural resources and move on.

"Invasion" is more "Invasion of The Body Snatchers." (1956). Conquering by assimilation. (Like the Borg).

It's not a secret, but apparently there are more Changelings than pure hew-mons, and they are busy trying to stem the tide. Or, like Sheriff Tom, taking the "Can't we all just get along?" approach.

i just can't see where all this is going.

And that is why we watch. To see what comes next. :)

I'm really looking forward to the next episode! Rose's teacher was so creapy! I wonder if the other non hybrids are going to complain.

Loved the line "they are all hybrids, the people not the cars" cracked me up!

Ditto. This has become a very good drama. But I'm pretty nervous.

The kid who plays Jesse has gone from being a weak link on the show to carrying the mail, in my book. His acting in the last couple of epsisodes has been really solid. He's really done well in going from a callow, disaffected kid to a raging teen.

This show went from going 30 in the fast lane to warp factor 6. Now the hybrids are everywhere. I have no idea where this show is headed but I wish it's big brotgher Lost would pick up momentum like this.

I so throughly agree this show has become very good. It started off as a the least of the 3 Alien shows, now it is the lone survivor and it is fighting hard to impress us.

Good job the way they have turned the Sheriff and Park Ranger together. I doubt very seriously that the ranger will be able to leave the town.

Why was the Sheriff's daughter's cell number blocked on the Sheriff's phone? That just didn't make a lick of sense.

And it looks like they limited the amount of blue-screen in this episode, which is always good when they do it worse than any other show in the history of TV.

The story though, does seem to be getting better, and I'm definitely looking forward to the war that is coming.

You can dial a prefix like #22 or something to block caller ID.

I forgot something I noticed in the prior episode. The kid was shooting a .45 and no one was flinching when he would shoot it. It is VERY loud and painful, and neither person had hearing protection...

Maybe he dialed *67 before the number? All though you'd think he actually wants the sheriff to know he was close to his daughter, as a sign that he could get to her any time.

Good episode, although my wife and I both thought the Riders o the Storm usage was comical. It just didn't seem to fit.

I didn't know you could block a cell number. Especially since they're probably on the same plan. Learn something new every day.

Now I have to write my congress person to get that abiltiy removed. If someone calls me, I have the right to know their phone number.

me too.

Me three!

The show has been slow in building the tension, but it is getting really good. I had fallen behind and ended up watching three episodes back to back last night. What a blast. I am looking forward to next week's episode more than any previous Invasion!

While Invasion doesn't have all the subtle clues of Lost, the pieces are fitting together nicely now.

I too hope that:
A) the show doesn't get cancelled .
B) the writers have things mapped out beyond season one.

I actually liked the usage of "Riders on the Storm"...but, then, I'm a big Doors fan.

I agree that this series continues to accelerate the pace. Anyone heard if it's been picked up for next season yet?

Another really good episode. I liked the fact that the teacher wasn't a hybrid, she was just trying to prepare the kids for here own death... didn't see that coming.

This show has some really bad special effects, but one is always amazing... the digital removal of Louis's arm. It's always really well done.

I really hope this one comes back, and if it doesn't they do a movie to resolve it.

Edited for spoilers. i posted in the wrong thread.

Did we see the same episode? The teacher is totally a hybrid. 80% of the people in the town are now hybrids. That coy look she had on her face while talking about extinction totally hinted towards her being a hybrid.

I'm with PJ (as opposed to JP). That was just misdirection. She was referring to personal extinction.

What about the whole thing with her being new? Was there a point in the show where they said she wasn't a hybrid and I missed it, because she is totally a hybrid.

It seems to me that all of the faculty are now hybrids, as in the library scene with Jesse and his friends. The hybrids kids were definitely the ones who started the whole fight, and were able to get the librarian to walk away, and the principal only punished Jesse and his friends. I am under the impression that only a very small minority left in the town is non-hybrid, which I get from comments like the one kid said about them taking his girlfriend to the water and changing her. They seem to be changing everyone at an exponential rate.

Should you guys be talking about 5/3/06 show in 4/26/06 show thread? You can spoil it for someone who hasn’t seen it yet…

But since there is no 5/3 thread I will comment on this:

We are all assuming that she wasn’t taken because she has terminal cancer and they do not take sick people. However, I would think that they should be able to clone her cancer free, by eliminating environmental factors and possibly even manipulating the genetics.

If she's terminally ill, then she wouldn't have been taken by the hybrids, because they don't want people that are sick.

So far, we haven't see hybrids lie about themselves to blend in, so I see no reason to doubt her.

If she's terminally ill, then she wouldn't have been taken by the hybrids, because they don't want people that are sick. And even if they *did* take her, then I'd think any cancer she had prior to being made into a hybrid would be gone afterwards... Based on the assumption that the hybrids are using the original DNA of the original host human and cancer cells are a mutation that would not be part of the original DNA and would therefore get 'filtered' out.
