Ok. This is my setup. I have the main cable going to the digital cable box. From the cable box I have the Red, Yellow & White connectors to the TiVo. From the TiVo I have another set of Red, Yellow and White connectors to the TV. My question is, is there anything I can do in order to record to the TiVo while watching the TV or will I have to memorize when TiVo is going to record something then turn off the Live TV? Now I know that the TiVo I received yesterday is not the new DT one but is there a way to run another cable line from the Digital Cable box to the TV itself or is there anything I can do to allow me to record TiVo while change channels? I know this has been discussed before but I don't believe with my setup. TIA.

your digital cable box can only send out 1 channel at a time.

you need to split the cable before the cable box and connect it to your tv coaxial input and you would be able to watch analog cable 2-99 while the tivo records the cable box.

you could also have the tivo only record analog 2-99 and then watch whatever cable box channel you wanted.

if you have a HDTV plasma with cable card you can put the cable box on the tivo and then use the tv remote and cable card to watch your digital line up (without PPV or VOD).

you could also get a 2nd cable box 1 to watch and 1 for your tivo to control.
