I just got TiVo and I am thinking to myself I can't wait to see the Basic Quality on my 52 inch Toshiba because I know it is going to suck. I would love to record on best quality with my new Series 2 (only 1 day old) but this 80gigger won't do it. If I was to buy a 300gb drive or something, are there any guides out there I can use to know how to put TiVo and the latest files and stuff on it so it seems as though TiVo shipped with a 300gb drive? Basically how do I put the "basic" image of TiVo onto this new 300gb or whatever size drive so I can get it to work? Thanks.

I would check out the upgrade forum here for your answers. It has a lot of good resources there.

If I am adding a 200gb+ drive is there anything I need to do in order for it to be recognized by TiVo. I am reading some stuff about large drives and TiVos and quite frankly I am getting a little confused. This was taken from the PTV site about Series 2 players (mine):

These units all contain a newer version of the TiVo Operating System which has an updated kernel and supports drives larger than 137GB (also known as LBA48 support). This means you can use this CD, MFStools and BlessTiVo to restore images on drives with greater than 137GB capacity, and "Bless" drives that are greater than 137GB.

Does this mean that I will need to use the LBA48 CD with MFStools in order to get a 200gb+ drive to be recognized on TiVo?

Better to ask/search in the Upgrade forum...But I *think* yes you would need LBA48. BTW, I used Instant Cake to upgrade to 300gb, and it did everything automatically.
