Hi I am new to tivo when i first got it I went thru and set up season passes (1st run only keep 5 high quality delete when space needed) for all my favorite shows I have about 23. I am running into a problem where all the season pass shows are not being recorded. I have checked for schedule conflicts and there are none when i go to season pass manager the season passes that are a high priority are being recorded but when i look at my 15th rated program it is saying no episodes will record. Any solutions would be appreciated.

Thanks

What does it say in the recording history about why those programs will not be recorded?

Couple of trouble shooting tips:

1) Season Passes are channel specific. If you set a season pass for NBC it won't record the episodes from Bravo, even though it is the same show.

2) First Run Only (FRO) mean that the episode is being aired within 28 days of the Original Air Date listed in the guide data. (Sometime people mistakenly believe the First Run Only would record episodes the first time the TiVo saw them; i.e. that because the episode is 'new' to the TiVo it would be recorded even though it was from last season)

There are a couple of additional issues with FRO that can trip you up:
* If the episode originally aired overseas, (for example battlestar galactica aired first in the UK), sometimes the guide data keeps the overseas original air date. This means that by the time it comes to the US, the first US showing isn't considered First Run by your TiVo.
* Some programs don't list an Original Air date (usually a problem with sports). If the program doesn't have an original air date the it isn't considered First Run by your TiVo.
* Some programs have no information about the specific episode, just a generic description of the whole series. The TiVo always considers these to be First Run, even if you wish it wouldn't (see "The Daily Show problem")

Hope some of this was helpful to you.

Thanks for the tips didnt realize that it only recorded from 1 channel that has to be the problem. I think I am just going to go thru and cancel all season passes not recording and set them back up at the channel and time that I want. Hopefully that will correct the problem. Thanks for the replies. Wondering if I should set it up for 1st run and repeats if that would help to fix the problem as well?

When you have troubles like this, it is a huge help to tell us WHICH program is not recording (instead of saying "my 15th rated program").

Be aware that if you have a SP for a show which runs on multiple channels, "View Upcoming Episodes" will show you ALL the episodes in the Guide Data, not just the ones for the channel on which your SP was set up.

Thus as Jonathan_S described, if you make an SP for The West Wing on NBC, but from one of the menus you choose the command "View Upcoming Episodes", it will show you all the episodes on Bravo as well as the ones on NBC, with the episodes picked up by the SP marked with a double checkmark.

You may see this and say -- Hey! my SP isn't working! -- because it isn't recording all the Bravo episodes, but this is normal behavior.

If an SP set up to FRO doesn't pick up episodes, editing the SP and choosing "First Run and Repeats" is a good thing to try next. Try it and see what happens.

If you have to make your SP or WL too broad and it picks up too much stuff, you can always go into your To Do list and cancel the recordings you don't want before they record. I check my To Do lists every day to make sure the shows I'm expecting to see are set to record and to manage conflicts if necessary (I have two standalone single-tuner TiVos).

If you have to make your SP or WL too broad and it picks up too much stuff, you can always go into your To Do list and cancel the recordings you don't want before they record. That reminds me. I didn't mention that an Autorecording Wishlist does record matching programs from any channel if your Channels I Receive list.

So if you did want all the West Wing episodes off of NBC and Bravo (for example), rather than setting two season passes, you could set up an autorecording wishlist for "West Wing".
