Before I get into my thoughts on this episode, the TiVo cut off next week's previews just at the point where Lorelai says to Luke, Let's elope. Can someone spoilerize what happened after that? Thanks.
Now on to the episode. I thought it was one of the most enjoyable eps of the season (though very bittersweet, what with the Palladino news). I loved the fact that Lorelai offered to get to know April, and I was cursing Luke when he pushed her away (very abruptly, too, I thought). It all worked out in the end, though. Now I have someone else to dislike: Anna Nardini.
At first glance, she seems like Lorelai, but when you push her she reveals her brash side, as she did tonight. She definitely over-reacted, IMHO, and if she really wants this to work, she has to trust that Luke would never endanger her child.
The scene with Paris in the hospital had me rolling. Only she could pull that one off! I also was pleased to see Rory grow a backbone and leave that message for Mitchum, though it fell short of my expectation of a face-to-face confrontation. Hopefully that's coming next week.

I also like the episode to bad there were so few this season. I do think it was best in the end luke had his time with april with out lorelai. The only thing I was disapointed about was that logan regained consciousness.

Paris looked the sanest she's ever been when talking to Rory. The fact that we only saw the other end of her conversation with the nurse/doctor made it even better.
Not really liking April's mom either in this episode.

Overall, this episode just made me sad.
I did enjoy the scenes in the hospital with Paris, and with Rory's phone call to Mitchum.
However, I just felt so bad for Lorelei by the end of the episode. She finally gets what she wants with Luke asking for her help and advice with April, and feeling like she will finally get to be a part of April's life, ultimately leading to Luke finally being ready to set a wedding date. And then Anna takes it all away from her. Really, my heart was breaking for her.

I think the good news is that this was a really well done episode and it was written and directed by the guy who is taking over next year, David Rosenthal.

Anna - overreact much?
I loved Rory finally telling off the members of the Life and Death Brigade. FINALLY!

lorelie needs to wise up .. christopher needs to step up to the plate again.. i liked luke before he started going out with lorelie, but now that they had their time in the sun, i think its time for the day to end.
gilmore girls looks like it'll have one more season, esp with the depature of those producers/writers/whatever. i hope that this season finale will finally see the end of the lorelie/luke story and that next season will be all about christopher and lorelei and how they'll get married !

That would be THE creators, sometime writers and producers Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino.

I thought Anna overreacted *way* too much; I thought I could see her point when she went off on Luke, but when Lorelei talked to her, I disagreed a lot with what she said to Lorelei. She's concerned about April getting attached to an adult who could then just disappear from her life? She's 12 (13?), not 6; she could deal. I wish Lorelei would have stuck up for Luke a bit when Anna said she didn't trust him to not walk out on April. If anything, he's constantly walking on eggshells fearing the opposite - that Anna will take April away.
I also noticed how sane Paris was talking to Rory. I think that conversation showed that they're true friends and no longer just "friends" in the sense that they just tolerate each other while studying/living/living together.
Oh, loved the "And yes, that's the guy from Two and Half Men" line.

i hope that this season finale will finally see the end of the lorelie/luke story and that next season will be all about christopher and lorelei and how they'll get married !The only way for the series to end that makes any sense will be for Lorelie and Christopher being together. We won't feel bad for Luke, though, because he'll wind up with Anna and their kid. Things will be as they should have been from the very beginning.
Now ya wanna know how I got all these UPPER CASE letters to type?

Finally had a chance to watch this. On the one hand, it was pretty fun: the party stuff was light and cheerful, and while I don't really think that April is an actual character -- the same girl who first showed up in a bizarre helmet and other attire is also a makeup-crazed teenager? doesn't jibe -- I'll take the fluff. Plus, as it went I was hopeful that we'd finally get some movement between Luke and Lorelai.
It came out kind of abruptly, but Luke's comment to Lorelai that he didn't want her involved, because April would like her better than him, kind of got to the heart of the whole issue and put it in more tolerable context. And then Lorelai saved the day at the party, bonded with April, and I thought: at last! But no. Now that April is out of the way as a wedge between Luke and Lorelai, the show puts Anna in the middle. And of course, totally twists her character around to suit the situation. All of sudden, she went from being this kind of cool, hip, yet level-headed and sensible mom to being uptight, super-controlling, and bitchy. Come on -- does anyone actually have a discernable character on this show anymore? Everyone is at the whim of the plot.
The worst thing about it was that when Anna was chewing Luke out about Lorelai, I kept waiting for him to defend Lorelai. Nope. And then he goes over to her house and just lays it on her that Anna is ticked off about the way she threw the party. Punk.

Every character on that show is wishy washy. It's my only real complaint about it.
I think the only character that has any kind of a spine is Michele. He has no problem mouthing off to his boss!
