Tivo Suggestions

:confused: How come I need to split the cable feed to watch a different channel then the one being recorded, yet a program that was recorded automatically by tivo suggestions recorded fine with no such connection change. (Every show i tried to record , recorded all the channel surfing and not the actual show) :confused:

Stop using your cable remote. Your cable box is a slave to the tivo. You should never use the cable remote for anything, ever again, except ordering PPV.

If you have a split cable, you need to be using the TV remote to do any channel surfing you feel you need to do using the TV's internal tuner.

Ok ty , My cable is not split. yet I was contemplating it. I put the cable remote in the drawer. I'm newbie so this is all very interesting yet confusing to me. Even tho i will be using the tivo remote , it will not record while watching live unless its split correct? I got the tivo so i could record shows that happen to be on the same night and time, allowing me to choose which one i would record and watch later. I didn't realize the split setup. but i would guess that is setup for me in this instance huh?
