I just bought a used Philips HDR612 series 1 Tivo and need to get it connected quickly so that if it doesn't work, I could return it or claim it broken.
It has no instructions and it doesn't even look like all the needed cables are there. The remote and video blaster cable are there. I'll probably use the RCA jacks to connect. No subscription planned unless I try it and like it.
Is there a site I can go to for complete instructions to get it up and running and test all the features?
Thanks all.

Try the TiVo.com site.

The Tivo com site is only for Tivo brand recorders. It referred me to to Philips site where I got instructions to call customer service then got stuck in an automated menu that didn't help.
I'll be happy to pay for a manual, but until I find out how to get it I still need to set up this unit. I'll try the instructions for Tivo made units.
Can anyone help with a simple solution to try, ie: where to plug in the cables, (composite for now), turning it on, setting up channels, using the remote? I have cable w/o a box and I'm willing to unplug the vcr or dvd just to find out if it works.
Thanks

TiVo.com has a downloadable pdf manual for that model.

The first statement on both setup examples:
The setup information in this article applies to any single tuner TiVo DVR. The illustrations shown are specific to the Series2 DVR manufactured by TiVo (see alternate Series2 back panel) but can be adapted if you are using a different DVR.
