I have an Serie's 1 HDR212 that I upgraded to two 120 GB drives about 3 years ago. Over the weekend, my "A" drive died. I have moved this Tivo in my daugters room so I really dont need 240 GB of space anymore. Here is my question:

Can I purchase Instantcake and use my old "B" drive and create an image on that drive that will work in my tivo?

I'm not sure whether since there is data on the "B" drive whether it will work or not. Will Instantcake just reformat the drive? I know the old "B" drive is still good, so I hate to go out and buy another drive when I have one sitting here that works. Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes it will overwrite anything that's on the B drive.

Thanks for your reply. I purchased Instantcake and easily setup the tivo to use the good 120 GB drive. The only problem I ran into was that Tivo locked the drive and I had to run qunlock on it before Instantcake would work. Great program, makes upgrading a piece of cake!
