I plan to replace the 80GB drive in my R10 with a 200GB single drive. In the past I have used MFS Tools 2.0 to upgrade several T-60 Series 1 DirecTivos. However, now I want to upgrade an R10 Series 2. As I understand it, the LBA48 kernel is native on the R10. Does that mean I can use MFS Tools 2.0 and get the full use of the 200GB without worrying about LBA48, or do I need to use the PTVupgrade software with LBA48 support?

Yes, you need the MFS Tools with LBA48 support, available from Weaknees, PTVUpgrade, Hinsdale, etc. Also check out the step-by-step instructions in Weaknee's thread anchored at the top of this forum.

I don't know how many times I have looked at the title of that thread and thought it was just the standard MFS Tools. I see now how you can tailor it for specific hardware. Very nice!
