Hello,
I have just received back from Weaknees the brand new WDC 320GB (WDC-3200 five year warranty model) drive I sent to them to have prepped and the Tivo 7.2.X OS loaded. So before I install it, I started to use the MFSTOOLS 2.0 CD (downloaded in 2004) to get a backup of the Tivo OS image before I install the drive into my S2 TCD230040 Stand-Alone Tivo Unit. So tonight when I connected up the 320 GB drive and started up MFSTOOLS 2.0, and checking the reported size of the drive as explained in Hinsdale 2.0 it showed only 137GB. So I stopped right there. Now I'm using a recent PC where the BIOS detects the drive as a 320GB drive, so I know it's not a PC BIOS issue. I'm sure of this because I first started with an older PC, and when it's BIOS only detected an 8 GB drive, I stopped right there and found a much newer PC. So what's the deal? Did Weaknees only prep my drive to be 137GB by mistake, or is my version of MFSTOOLS 2.0 too old to properly detected the correct size of the 320GB drive?
I only want to use MFSTOOLS 2.0 to get a backup of this new Weaknees image onto a second 4GB Hard drive drive, (and then to CD) to have for future restore reasons if this new 320 GB drive ever fails. I am not trying to steal their image to use for any other purpose other than to have a backup of the image tucked away for myself.
Does anyone have any idea if this MFSTOOLS 2.0 reported 137GB of a 320GB drive is correct before I continue?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Scott
