I have a Phillips DSR704 DVR and I just purchased a RC23 remote. I programmed the remote with 01442 for the DVR. Now here is the problem. If I press the “PWR” button, nothing happens. To turn on the DVR I have to press the “Active” button. It seems to me I should be able to press the “PWR” button to turn on the DVR. Also, when I press the “PWR” button, I do NOT see a green light behind the Directv symbol, yet if I press most of the other buttons, I do see the green light and those other buttons work as intended. It is as if the “PWR” button is disabled when in Directv mode.

Second question. I have tried all the codes listed in the manual to program “TV” mode for a Mitsubishi TV. To turn on the TV, I must move the mode switch to “TV” and press the “PWR” button. The two buttons labeled “ON” and “OFF” under “TV Power” do not do any thing. The other buttons (numeric keys, volume, channel, etc) work fine. I went to a friends house who has Panasonic TV, programmed the remote for it, and the two buttons labeled “ON” and “OFF” under “TV Power” work fine with that TV. But they do not work with Mitsubishi. So is this universal remote not so universal or am I missing something?

The original dtivo peanut remote doesn't have a power command, so why is it strange a universal doesn't have it either? Other UEI made remotes, like the One-For-All line of universal remotes that use advanced codes, have an advanced code for Stand-by.

Sorry, if the preset codes don't punch through the ON & OFF commands, then you're out of luck. The code will do it or not, its not a programmable feature.

The RC23 is the oem remote included with the R15, no way is it to be taken for a true Universal remote.
