Ahh...

You have an SA Tivo, connected to a non-dvr DirecTV Reciever?

What model DirecTV Reciever do you have.
Depending on the model, you may or may not be able to shut off the screen saver.

It is happening, when your TiVo is recording on the same channel... and thus hasn't changed the channel in a long time.

You can set the TiVo to record a "fake" show right before the one you actually want.

Set up a manual recording, say 5 minutes long, on a different channel, have it stop 5 minutes before the show you actually care about.

Then the TiVo will have to change the channel to record the right show, the changing of the channel will reset the timer on the screen saver.

If using serial control on a D10 try this -

If you have a Series2 running 7.2 & are getting the screen saver on the D10 while using serial, make sure that you have the TiVo Banner set to clear normally. (TiVo Central> Messages & Settings> Settings> Displays> Channel Banner). If it's set to "Display banner normally", you should select "Clear banner quickly", exit the menu item, then go back and choose the normal setting.

Worked on my d10 - 100 with serial cable to a Tivo Series 2 running 7.2.

Weird but it worked.
