So last week while i was away on Vaca, I got the rebate check for my DirecTV DVR $100.

But I already talked to DirecTV about not getting my check after 16 weeks and they gave me the credit on my account.

What do i do? do i rip it up, send it back or cash it...

Call them and ask what to do. I would not cash it.

If you cash it, they will probably figure it out and charge you $100 or something.

I'd say cash it, or rip it up, but no need to call them since you have the credit.

Maybe instead of ripping it up, just save it, just in case

I'd cash the hell out of it immediately. If they call and want their money, I'd tell them to send me a rebate refund request form and wait 20-30 weeks for processing.

Whatever you do, don't mail it back to them. It might be mistaken for a rebate request and get lost.

They may want it back because otherwise their accounting department will have a hissy fit due to an outstanding uncashed check. If it were me, I would make the call to satisfy my conscience.

naw, i dont think they would have a hissy fit since usually rebate checks expire after 60-90 days. So really they be probably happy that it got lost or never cashed.

I had the same problem - no check after about 3 1/2 months. I called, and they gave me the $100 credit, and said that if the check ever did arrive, to rip it up. They didn't say what would happen otherwise... :)

Probably if you cash it, you'd get ANOTHER 2 year commitment... :)

haha. 100% agree.

they sent me a rebate denial for no particular reason for this rebate, and i called retention and they wouldn't do anything about it and told me to resubmit the form. yeah right!

i got another letter in the mail shortly after that stating that i didn't activate it from like July 2005 to March 2006...and i activated it in november. i called back again and they finally gave me $100 credit.

if i get that check, im cashing it so fast...
