There are so many threads here regarding ways to replace a hard drive that it's a bit confusing. May I ask some specific questions so that one of you can point me in the right direction?
I have a Sony SV3000 Series 2 running the latest version of TiVo software. Lately I've noticed the dreaded clicking hard drive, along with a frozen screen shot of whatever happened to be playing at the time. I reboot and it's fine for a day or so until it happens again. I'm prepared to replace the hard drive with a bigger unit (250-300GB) or two.
I've looked at the InstantCake instructions and the instructions at http://tivo.upgrade-instructions.com. They both seem fairly straight forward. However, I don't see any instructions for saving my current recordings.
Is saving recordings an option using InstantCake?
If not, is this something I can do some other way?
Are some of the other methods better (MFS Tools)?
