I am using TiVo Desktop v2.2 to transfer recodings to my PC. I have transferred roughly 25 programs without a problem. However, I have found 4 files that won't transfer completely, and they all share the same problem. I am only going to refer to 1 of those files since I've only worked on it to try and get a complete transfer. It shows to be 1.24GB, but Desktop only transfers 600MB. I've tried 3 times to do the transfer, but the results are all the same. I've also tried using my browser with a technique I got from another thread (https://<tivo ip>/nowplaying/index.html). It, too, shows the file to be 1.24GB in size and, also, only transfers 600MB. If anyone can shed some light on this, I would really appreciate the help.

Do the shows that won't transfer completely show any pixelation during playback on the Tivo? Others have noticed that hicups like that can prevent transfers.

I don't remember, but I will go watch it as soon as I can and give you an update. Thanks a lot for the suggestion.

Ok, I watched the whole show (admittedly in fast-forward to reduce the time) and paid particular attention to any pixelation, but I didn't see any. I stopped 5 min. before and watched at normal speed through 5 min. after the half-hour (mid-show) point which I figured would be about the point of the 600MB stop in the transfer. However, during this 10-minute span I still didn't see anything unusual.

Not to insult your intelligence, however when I had that same problem, it was due to a corrupt TiVO cache. Just turn off all TiVo operation (the beacon will not shut down) via task manager, do not forget to also delete any files in your TiVo transfer to fiile in your computer that are 0 bytes in size, or you think are the wrong size.

delete all cache files, and TiVoTransfer.dat from

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\TiVo Desktop (this is where mine are saved by installer default)

Then start up the TiVo desktop software again, while I did loose the history of what I had already messed with, all size & transfer problems went away. I found these instructions on how to do this somewhere on this web-board months ago and do not remember who posted it first (and should get all the credit for the tip)

Good Luck
