I would love to rename dowloaded tivo files so tivo sees them as the new name.
Just doing a file rename does not change the way tivo sees it.
The reason I want to do this is to backup a tv show series an name them in series order. ie: Lost World 101, Lost World 102, Lost World 103.....etc
Then back these files up to CD/DVD. Restore them back to my PC and transfer back
to my TIVO when I want to watch them again in the original order.
Unfortunately the all record as The Lost world.
Any ideas????
Thanks,
Bob

The TiVo really sees the data in the header of the.tivo file, and so far, there is no known way to edit that.

You could however convert the files to standard MPEG files using Directshow Dump, then it will simply use the file name when you put it on your TiVo. However be warned this will also eliminate the grouping functionality, so they'll all just sit in Now Playing.

You could convert the files to MPG using one of the methods we can't discuss here and then rename them. You'd lose all the meta data (description, recording date, episode title) but the name would be what you wanted.
