I have the error report that goes to Microsoft saved if anyone technical is interested in seeing it (memory locations etc.). My OS is XP Pro with the latest updates and it is running WMP 10 with verified MPEG-2 decoder. (used Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility).

When I go to play a saved Tivo file, WMP opens then shuts down without playing the file. I have tried numerous saved Tivo files with the same result. I have on two occasions been successful in playing a file after uninstalling and reinstalling the DVD player software (Cyberlink 5 SE with update to Decoder Version 6.0.0.1014)

Once that one file plays, it is back to immediate shutdown of WMP on any subsequent Tivo files. All other WMP files have run successfully.

The error signature is:

AppName: wmplayer.exe AppVer: 10.0.0.3802 ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 51.2600.2180 Offset: 00011e58

Windows Checkup Utility lies! :D

Or a least it is not always very helpful. Try installing this free codec and see if you have better results.

Thanks for the link, I'll give it a try as soon as I get back home from a trip and let you know if it worked.
