Thanks, but I'm looking for an actual backup image I can install myself. My SD-DVR40 is stuck on 3.x and I'm looking to upgrade to 6.2 and install a new hard drive.
If anybody knows where I can get a 6.2 backup image for a SD-DVR40, please let me know.

I have also read that there is a member (Stan something) that can point you towards a downloadable image.

StanSimmons... He didn't have one for the SD-DVR40. Thanks though. Once I find this image, I'll send it to Stan.

Get the instacake from ptvupgrade.com its worth the $20.00, you can get the instant download from them, about 250 meg.

I have the software from PTVRupgrade.com. I'm installing on a blank drive, so I'll need a backup image, from a SD-DVR40 running 6.2.

The instacake is all you need it has the 6.2 image with it, just used it to replace a dead hard drive in my Hughes.

Wait.. no, you DON'T need instantcake OR an image. Why are you stuck on 3.x? You should be able to force a call and download 6.2, unless you've hacked the unit. Then you need to go search for "Upgrading to 6.2 with slices" and you can upgrade the unit for free.
Your SD-DVR40 has a free download for 6.2 from DirecTV direct to your box.
