I have an HR-10 250 that I purchased in Oct 2005. I love it and don't want to give it up.

I have recently had problems with HD programs starting to skip. Recently, when playing an HD program while recording two others, it started to skip. Now it is skipping even more and is becoming unwatchable.

Does this sound like a bad hard drive? If so, what are my options? My guess is if I go to Directv they will either (1) do nothing or (2) replace it with a non-tivo.

Help.

Since DirecTV doesn't have a non TiVo HD DVR yet, you'll probably get a refurbished HR10-250,
and a brand new 2 year commitment.

You'd be better off replacing the drive yourself with an off the shelf hard drive, or a ready-to-wear disk from somewhere like Weaknees.
