Well, my good old Directv Series One Phillps DSR-6000 hard drive finally bit the bullet.

I decided if I was going to keep it I would do it right so I slapped a 250 gig drive and 120 gig drive in there. I also purchased a CacheCard.

For software I loaded xtreme 3.1, as I didn't want the machine calling out.

Everything seemed to go just as planned, hours showed up correctly, and the CacheCard has substantially sped things up.

The problem is that on certain shows right before the commercials show the unit freezes up then reboots. I can't fast forward past the spot, but I can use the skip to get to the end then back up.

The other random problem is that certain shows show up in the list, but when I go to play them it gives and error and says the recorder failed to record the program because there was no signal.

I have a second DSR-6000 for the kids, and I have set some of the shows to record the same things, so I know it is not a problem with the dish or the switch (I swapped the connections.)

I made sure I had the latest drivers for the CacheCard as well.

The only thing I can think is that either the LBA 48 is corrupt on the drive somehow or the cachecard drivers are interfereing.

I pulled the memory out of the cachecard and tried watching the same program and it still freezes up and then reboots at the same spot.

I have searched and searched forums but have not found any info that has been helpful. Is anyone familar with this problem or able to point me in the right direction.

I also don't know how to check the logs for errors which I have read about in some forums.

Any help would be appreciated before my wife kills me for "fixing" the tivo.

Thanks,

Peter :D

IIRC... I don't think there is an LBA48 kernal that will run on a Series 1 unit.

Either way, that is a significantly hacked system.
So head down to the Underground
