Just trying to confirm if anyone else is having this problem?
Please, someone with 7.2.2 test a previously (< 7.2.2) recorded DVD
and see if you too are having this problem.
Just received service upgrade to 7.2.2 on 04/07/06 and
now none of the DVD's we recorded off of this unit will work anymore. You know the DVD's with the quite little Tivo logo.
At first thought was broken DVD player, but comercial DVD's work fine. DVD's that where recorded on the unit work fine in my PC's dvd player, Tivo menu and all.
We have a hugh collection of stuff we recorded over the last year and can not use now!
Yes, I've unplugged and rebooted.
No, it's not the media, been using same hi quality media for last year with zero problems.
No, it's not just one DVD, but all of them. (well didn't test all 150+)
Just hoping this doesn't turn into a Pioneer <-> Tivo finger pointing contest, aaarrrggg .
Anyone else having this problem??????
Has anyone ever been able to get Tivo to back rev. firmware for them?
I've got the same Pioneer 57H and all the DVDs I made with 7.2.1 work now with 7.2.2.

Thanks for replying.
Just this morning I tried burning a DVD and it failed as well, "an internal error".
Very fustrating.
Since I believe the whole 7.x series is fairly new, you must have a newer unit?
If you could take the time to look at your settings, It would be very interesting to
know your DVD firmware. Mine is....
"DVD firmware: DVR-77H 1.31"
It would be interesting to see if they're still using same pioneer DVD player and what firmware you have since my unit was manufactured 04/06.
Thanks,

My box is OK as well -- and it's a 810H that I bought shortly after they came out. My firmware version is the same as you have.
Have you tried cleaning the lens in the DVD player? Recordable DVD media has a different amount of reflectivity when compared to pressed media -- which could explain why it's only showing up with burned DVD's

Knowing you have the same model/firmware and where not having problems ( or previous poster ) made me jump on it.
Took unit apart gave good dusting, "used one of those 6 brush lens cleaning cd's".
Had to do it twice during the day, but all seems to be working now.
ASSuMEd the worst but wasn't.
What do you guys use to clean lens?
Would/have you taken apart and manually cleaned the lens and mirror?
I'm considering it, because just can't see these little cd brush things do a though job?
Also, have you ever considered upgrading the firmware, there seems to be a 1.33B
out there.
========================================================
What the update does:
DVR-A05/105 WIN Firmware version 1.33-B improved DVD-Dual Layer playback (countermeasure found for the set-up NG of dual-layered movies such as "Spiderman"), enhanced CD-R/RW writing, improved DVD-R/RW playback and writing.

Not sure though, have heard there might be special "Tivo" firmware in these units.
Maybe I'll call tech support and see what they think?
Anyway, thanks for the suggestion, it seems to be spot on.
I've not had to clean the lens yet. I'm leaving the current firmware in as it's working fine now.

I'm not updating the firmware either -- I'm a strong believer of the phrase "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
