I was puzzled to find one of my Tivo's sending me a local error message, saying that it had not made a successful call in more than 30 days. Yet looking at selected programmes, there was advance information there. Looking in SysInf, the above error message appeared. I did the usual stages of recovery, from a restart to the removal of data and to-do's. All to no avail. Calling Tivo CS, I was given the impression this wasn't seen before and a check of the Tivo Server revealed nothing - it all seemed to be OK. (All the D/l's worked fine), only when parsing the data did it fall apart.

I was told they'd flag my machine for an 'RA' to sync the data, and to do a full guided setup. In doing this, I noticed my Postcode field had been shortened to just 2 characters (from the usual 6). I re-entered it in full, and did the full Guided Setup again.

During the Setup Call, it progressed happily through the Connecting/Downloading and Hanging Up. However, during the Importing phase, at the very end, I got a bong and the warning triangle with the message: (Failed while loading series.) The Indexing field isn't reached and still shows '(approx 10 sec)'. Which is where I am at the moment.

Anyone got any suggestions?

One suggestion I've heard for this error is to change the postcode to something else (valid) and redo GS for Aerial Only with that. Then change it back to your own postcode and redo it again.

This is a known workaround which, apparently, some people at TiVo CS have heard of while others haven't.

Interesting. The CS chap did say they'd had postcode problems, but alluded to the fact that Royal Mail had been changing them, and asked if I was in an 'affected area'. Because you can re-run a failed Setup from the same screen (using select) I've tried it again and it is showing 'loading data' with no %. However if this does nothing after an hour, I'll follow your suggestion and switch to a different postcode and report back if this shakes it down properly.

Well - the problem is resolved! There was no requirement to enter a fake postcode to force the Guided Setup to continue, as my original postcode had been corrupted to just the first 2 characters, this appeared to be the problem. Re-entering the full postcode and running GS again, I'm back in business (but minus all my earlier Season Passes and To Do lists).

So - if you get the crypric Failed While Loading Series....check your postcode hasn't dropped off!
