Can someone explain how HD broadcasting will impact my Tivo?
Will it still be able to record, or what?
I was considering investing in an extra HDD to record all programmes in mode 0, and upgrading one of my backups Tivos, but I'm not so sure now.

It won't affect your Tivo at all. You won't be able to use Tivo to record HD stuff of course, but you will still be able to record SD stuff as now.

Strictly speaking, you will be able to record anything that you can feed in via scart or coax, HD or not... but it won't play out as anything other than standard definition, negating the benefit of paying for HD broadcasts or having an HD tv

There would still be some benefit to using a HD signal with TiVo instead of SD, but probably not enough benefit to be worth the additional cost.

You could make the Tivo force the SkyHD manually record any HD broadcasts (by sending 'record' and possibly stop signal if Sky+ requires that).
There's very little HD material at the moment so for the few programmes it's needed you'd have an SD copy on Tivo and an HD copy on the Sky box.
