I would appreciate any help you can give to a somewhat techy-challenged girl!
I upgraded my cable, meaning I now have a cable box) and I cant record anything unless Irecord from channel 3 and have the cable set to the channel I wish to record with the tv on! The cable guy told me I needed to buy a sensor and I have no idea what he is talking about. Basically, tivo does not recognize I have all these add'l channels now. Thanks if anyone can steer my clueless self in the right direction. :)

You most likely just need to re-run Guided Setup. This process will guide you through telling TiVo what the input is (cable, cablebox, satelite, etc.) and how your TV is connected.

Once completed you should be fine.

Two things. First, you'll need to re-run guided setup to tell TiVo that you have a new cable lineup and a cable box. They probably should have given you a lineup card with the new box which will help you select the right one. The guided setup will help you select the right lineup, as well as telling it how to control the cable box.

Second, (though this needs to be done first) TiVo needs to be able to control the cable box. Depending on what kind of box it is, this can be done with either a serial cable, or IR Blasters. Both should have come with your TiVo. Both cables will have a small headphone style jack at one end. The serial cable will have a plug at the other, and the IR Blasters will have 2 plastic sticks with a small glass bulb on them. If you look at your cable box for a brand and model number, we'll probably be able to tell you whether you'll need serial or IR control.
