I am moving next week and am thinking of switching to my cable provided DVR instead of my TIVO. Here are the reasons:

1. The "double clicking" function on the remote is getting really irritating and I have tried everything to fix it.
2. Not able to watch in HD(This is the biggest reason)
3. I feel the picture quality is poor especially on my Humax DRT-800
4. Since the new service update my TIVO's no longer communicate with each other consistently and I have tried every fix possible for this as well.

TIVO has really changed the way I watch TV and there are some features that I really do enjoy but I think it's time to move on. Anyone have any suggestions??

The double click can be solved with a new remote (if it's just double and not repeated).
HD is a big one.
PQ I can't speak for. Even on a 42" plasma, seems fine to me, and I used to be a high end theater installer, so I'm a bit snobbish in this category.
4) I have no idea about. But you get 0 functionality in that realm from cable dvr as far as I know.

Personally, I ended up paying extra for both for now. Needed an HD box, HD DVR was only 5 bucks a month more, so I have a regular digital box feeding the TiVo, and a Moto 6214 DVR for HD stuff. Costs more, but I'll live with it for now.

On a side note. It's easy to compare them side by side in my setup... the Moto shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as TiVo. Much slower response, occasional command hangs (then 20 seconds later they all flood in), minimal functions compared to TiVo, and a very clunky interface.
