Hi, Can someone give me some advice? I have a Directv Tivo that I have owned for a little over a year. I cannot believe I was ever able to watch TV without Tivo.
I have a Samsung SIR s4040 that I bought directly from Directv. The problem is, it only records 35 hours. I would like to get a higher capacity. I was wondering if anyone could advise the best way to go about it. I don't have HD and only need to maybe double the capacity.

I'm not sure what your level of skill is. Speaking for myself, a person with more confidence in my hardware skills than software, I'd go to Weaknees (http://www.weaknees.com/samsung_s4040r.php) and order an upgrade kit from them and install it myself.

I also went thru WEAKNEES a few months ago, and despite a lot of fretting on my part and a little hand-holding by the other board members, I did it.

Weaknees sent me a larger hard drive meant for my TiVo, it had the TiVo software on it already, and the installation went fine.

A six hour machine is now a 45 hour machine. (We're talking "best quality" here. At "basic" the thing will record 163 hours.)

All I lost was a single episode of SMALLVILLE that was on the old drive (and it had already been transferred to DVD).

You can do this.
