Humax - piece of crap or bad luck?

We are now on our 3rd Humax 40 hr DVD... as the first two broke, losing all the stuff that was recorded. The Humax folks sent us new ones each time, but now the 3rd is acting up again, malfunctioning whenever we try to burn a dvd...

this is majorly frustrating. has anyone else had problems with the humax? :mad:

Oh, you'll find plenty of people on here who have had problems. It took six units for me to get a good one. I think they just have really poor quality control.

as strange as this sounds...

when I was researching, it looked as if the 40 hour Humax models were worse than the 80 hour. I don't know why, it doesn't make sense, unless they're just using a horrible hard drive in those 40s (or is there some other hardware difference??)... maybe they'll let you upgrade?
