Tivo got the series 3 approved by cablelabs:
see this thread in the coffe house:

also of note yesterday:
http://home.businesswire.com/portal/site/home/index.jsp?epi-content=GENERIC&newsId=20060406005984&ndmHsc=v2*A1141822800000*B1144442358000*DgroupByDate*J2*L1*N 1000837*ZCableLabs&newsLang=en&beanID=202776713&viewID=news_view
scientific atlanta got their multistream card approved also and cablelabs is still saying:
It is expected that multi-stream CableCARD devices will be widely available for use and commercially availability by mid-2006, and will be supported by cable operators.
sounds promising that at least the cablecard end of things with series 3 is squared away.
But in the coffehouse thread Pony still was noncommittal saying 2nd half of the year. And someone pointed out that tivogaurd is still not approved by cablelabs for moving content around for MRV- so maybe that's the final big holdup- getting that approved?
