got an extra box before the deadline hit and now have one more tivo than TV's. Is there some way to hook it up and have essentially dual tuners on one TV?
TIA

Yes and no. I mean you can hook it up and it will be a second tuner, but it won't work like a dual tuner unit because those have a single ToDo list resolving the conflicts for you. With separate units, you would have to do that babysitting manually.

Sure, but exactly how depends on what type of cable coming into the house you have. If you have cable with no box, then it's easy. Just use a cable splitter and run one line to each of your TiVOs. That's what I do.

How do you guys with two TIVOs in one spot handle the remote's signal being sent to both?

In the options you can set up a different remote signal. On the Series 2 remote, there is a switch letting you change between TiVo 1 and TiVo 2 so you can control them both with the same remote.

cool, I don't have a cable box, so can someone show me/link me to a location where I can see instructions on what to do?

I am not very tech savvy but doesn't the tivo record what is showing on the TV? If you have 2 tivos connected to 1 TV, how can they record different shows? For example, wouldn't both Tivos ask you to swith to a specific channel to record and therefore be a conflict? I do not have a cable box so if this does work I would be interested in getting a second box. thanks.

because they each have they're own cable lines plugged into them. so, they can record whatever they want. all you need to do is split one cable line into 2 and then plug those in.

what you see on your tivo is the output of the tivo

1. Buy a cable splitter at Walmart. $2.00
2. Buy 2 short patch cables - 3-6' ea. as well Maybe around $5.00ea.
3. One video patch cable (red, yellow, and white) RCA cable. Also called composite cables.

Remove the cable from your TiVo, the one coming from the wall. Plug that into the input on the splitter. Plug the two cable into the outputs on the splitter and each into the input on the TiVo (Antenna Connection).

Here's the tricky part.

If your TV has more than one input you're good to go, if not you'll have to get one of those swtch boxes that let you have more than one device attached to the TV.

I'll assume you have a set like mine. It has one svideo input with red and white wires for audio, one RCA input(Yellow, Red, and White wires), and one standard RF cable input. Run the first TiVo using the same cable you are using at present in the the RF connection as before. Run your second TiVo outputs from the composite wires(The RCA R, Y, and W wires) to the composite on the Tivo. If you have svideo you can use that connection instead, but you'll need an svideo cable in addition to the R, Y, and White cables(but you won't plug in the yellow one.)

To switch between the two on your TV you should only have to use the input button the tivo remote.

Setting up the tivos to use one remote is beyond me as I've never done it, so I'll leave that explaination to someone else.

I've had up to 4 in the same room - works great.

Another option for multiple Tivos if you only have one input to the TV is to hook one Tivo up to the TV and do a peer-to-peer (or network) connection for both Tivos and use MRV to play back recordings from the second Tivo using the first.
