Taylor (1-866-IDOLS-01) is up singing "Take me home country road" He did okay but I don't think it was his type of song.

Mandisa (1-866-IDOLS-02) is singing "Any man of mine"... Once again she did okay but nothing to great...

Elliot (1-866-IDOLS-03) Not sure what he is singing... He did pretty good, better than the first 2.

Paris (1-866-IDOLS-04) is Singing "how do i live without you". Hmmmmm she did okay but not great either.

Ace (1-866-IDOLS-05) singing "I want to cry". Okay I am sick of the falsetto stuff..

Kellie (1-866-IDOLS-06) she says she's really dumb and not pretending.. :) She is singing "Fancy". She did quite good sort of had an unfair advantage tonight over the rest except maybe Bucky since he's a hick too.. :D

Chris (1-866-IDOLS-07) he is singing...not sure again.. I thought he did really well tonight.

Katharine McPhee! (1-866-IDOLS-08) My favorite! Did "bringing out the elvis in me" and I thought it was really good. I must keep her on my screen.. :D

I actually think Chris and Katharine were the best of the night by far. Kelly might have done almost as well, if not as well, as Chris and Katharine - but that's because she does country all the time. I was much more impressed by Chris and Katharine for overcoming being uncomfortable with the music format and giving a really great performance.

Oh, and Kenny - trust me, EVERYONE has heard that song... it was a top 10 song from Vertical Horizon long before it was a country song. Nice way to remind Mushmouth to open his mouth though. :) (Note to Kamakazie - it was "Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning)" and it was originally performed by Vertical Horizon, then covered by Gary Allan.)

Complete crap shoot as to who is going home tonight. It was all so blah and bucky was the only really bad stand out. Hard to imagine even with how bad he was that he would fall on country night. So it could be an "upset" for one of the favorites.

Amen to that, sister! As a larger woman myself, I know that the stylists do NOT know how to dress someone our sizes. You NEVER:
- wear horizontal designs of any sorts
- tight pants are your ennemy

The stylists managed to hit all three points with this outfit.

Second week in a row where everyone kinda sucked (that may be because I don't like country music, like Simon, but I don't think so). Katharine, Ace, and Chris sang in tune, but that was about it. Katharine's performance was good, but the chorus of that song didn't seem to make any sense. And yeah, I couldn't understand Bucky from word 2. He must go.

Taylor picked the wrong song. If he was going to pick John Denver, why not pick "Rocky Mountain High"? "Country Roads" is a good song, but Rocky Mountain High is an anthem, and he could have sung it much better.

And, I'm surprised nobody took the southern-rock shortcut, and busted out "Sweet Home Alabama" or "Ramblin' Man."

I was pleasantly surprised by Kelly. She's retarded, but she's decent when she tries.

Chris Daughtry sounded almost like Keith Urban. Sort of impressive.

Katharine surprised me because she sounds great with low notes. Kind of makes up for the loss of Melissa McGhee. She's getting a little cocky and annoying though.

Was nice hearing Bucky singing incoherently instead of grunting incoherently.

By the way I just wanted to add I was impressed by Chris. My only real knock on him to-date has been that he won't leave the hard-rock song. He may not have blown anyone away with his performance here, but I think it showed enough of a difference that he has to be considered the clear favorite at this point.

I suspect the bottom three will consist of Taylor, Mandisa and Bucky. Taylor did not feel the music and it showed. That will turn off his biggest supporters. Mandisa just doesn't do Country and she looked like a house. The clothes will probably be the cause her downfall tonight.

If anyone cares, I'm still sticking with my Final 4 (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=3800487#post3800487) of Kellie, Chris, Taylor, and Ace despite the fact that it's becoming less likely (Katherine's doing well, for instance).

I have no doubt (and predicted here (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=3822669#post3822669) that Chris will win this thing. Everything to that point now is just fluff.

Who all was better than pickler? I only thought chris was, based solely on this week. Maybe Katharine I could see. Everyone else was quite bad. Kelly at least sounded like your average country singer, and even katharine had a bit of country twang. Everyone else sounded like karaoke to me.

She's not the strongest singer overall in the competition, but as time passes I begin to doubt that paris, mandissa, and elliot can duplicate the few good times we've seen them (though in the case of mandissa, that has been since early round auditions/hollywood).

But this was Bucky and Kellie's domain, and they should have been head and shoulders above the rest this week. Technically it's more of a tremolo than a vibrato. Chris and Paris do the same thing sometimes. Elliot seems to have made it the foundation for his "technique." Maybe he should try those warm-ups that he is so against because what he is doing isn't working.
