USA Today's ninth annual Save our Shows survey is out today. They have listed 22 shows that are on the bubble and are being threatened with cancellation. There is good news for Scrubs fans!

If Veronica Mars gets dropped, there's something horribly wrong with this world. Or with the rating system. Or both.

Conviction is necessary in the absence of Third Watch.
What sick person would cancel VM?

Unfortunately, I've known for some time that there is a lot wrong with the world and the rating system. Frankly, I think it's amazing that VM has lasted two seasons because a show that clever and original tends to be the kind that gets canned before it gets one full season (see My So-Called Life, Cupid, etc.).
But if Veronica Mars gets canceled, the shrieking and wailing will be deafening. I don't think Dawn Ostroff wants to risk getting that kind of hate mail so early in her new job as head of the CW.
I voted to keep VM and Everwood, even though it doesn't seem likely that the CW will find a place for both of them.

Wow..I don't watch any of those shows except Close to Home, so that is the only one I chose to keep.
All the rest received Don't care, except for:
Evidence was horrific, I had to put drop for that one :down:
Edit to Add: I didn't see In Justice and Criminal Minds on this list, so I'm hoping they will stay on...love them.

I'm not too worried that the show won't find a place on the schedule next season. It's one of the new net's premier properties, critically speaking, and probably the only show they have that will appear on almost every "best of" list after this season, as it did after last. Plus the new network gives them a chance to basically re-launch the show.
Now, whether it survives the third season or sees a fourth is another matter entirely.
Moving to another show, I saw the article in the paper this morning and the Scrubs comments made my day. Particularly the inside headline "Scrubs fans don't have to worry" or words to that effect.

This is supposedly an annual survey, any success in the past ones or just another place for fans to rant?
I looked through the list and saw a few things I watch: CiC and Close to Home for example, but even if I thought these web petitions were worth anything I don't think I care enough about anything there to click. I watch the shows and get some enjoyment from them, but honestly I think it's very possible that if they were gone there's a chance of another show replacing them that I'd really like.

I voted to keep Scrubs, Teachers, The King of Queens, Bernie Mac, and Veronica Mars.
I voted to drop The Loop and Free Ride.
The others I said I didn't care.

Third Watch never should have been cancelled in the first place....another idiotic move by the execs at NBC. I can't wait for the day the top two get fired for running the network into the ground....oh i mean....keep Veronica Mars.

I voted to drop the Loop (it doesn't make me laugh, and I like to laugh)

* Scrubs
* The King of Queens

I didn't care about any of the rest...

I actually voted Drop for everything but Scrubs. I thought to vote "don't care" first but then figured if those shows were dropped, it might make some room for stuff I might actually be interested in watching. :)

Thanks for the link, freak. If the prior two years are an indication, it looks like the poll is good at getting the top vote getter one additional season on the air ;)

There's a nice article on Scrubs in today's (4/9) NY Times. It echoes the optimism in the USA Today "Save Our Shows" piece for a sixth season of the show, either on NBC or ABC. (The article does contain one upcoming plotline spolier.)

Veronica Mars' rating have been disappointing, but it's not going anywhere just yet. It fits perfectly in with the WB/UPN --> CW target audience. They're going to have enough issues to deal with getting the two networks blended. It was be self-defeating to cancel one of the two signature scripted shows of the merged network (the other big one being Gilmore Girls - and there's a strong chance that this if this isn't the last season of Gilmore Girls then next year almost certainly will be).

In USA Today's initial story on the merger, someone from WB, who I think was programming chief for the new network, raved about VM. She said it had been her dream to have VM and GG back to back, and now that could happen. I took that as the reason for moving VM to tuesdays.

That would be Dawn Ostroff, who was chief at UPN and is now chief at the CW. Those comments were made way back when the deal was announced... since then, the ratings have plummeted for "Mars" and the future of the show is rather up in the air.

I thought I said it was back when the deal was announced...no matter. It still can't hurt to have her pulling for the show. Got to look at it as a glass 1/2 full kind of thing.

Oh Ninny. You and I have much to discuss. I need to find a box and send you the first season of Veronica Mars. :)

If the prior two years are an indication, it looks like the poll is good at getting the top vote getter one additional season on the airAll you might be able to determine is a correlation.
Correlation does not imply causality.
