I need some advice. My old one (HR 10-250) is having some issues with signal strength and it's still under warranty so I am getting sent a new one. The person I talked to said I would need to return the old one (which I own) within 7 days of activating the new one. I have a ton of programming on the old one that I haven't had a chacne to transfer over to dvd's yet. I don't think there is anyway I can do it in 7 days. Does anyone know of a way to transfer the whole hard drive or something? My husband has a huge external HD, way big enough to fit all the content on my tivo. It's stuff I hate to lose.

Any thing you guys have done before? Or am I stuck staying up 24/7 for the next week??

The recordings on a TiVo are encrypted and tied to that particular box. Copying the data will not really do you any good, since it will not play back on your new box. Other than copying to DVD, your only other method involves hacking and extraction (which is not supposed to be discussed here.)

Ahh, got it, thanks. Talking about any of that other stuff would do me no good anyway, I really am an idiot when it comes to it. Thank god for tivo and it's 1 button approach to recording and all that. Whelp, there might be some long nights ahead!
