What model of Tivo do I need to buy, to record local HD network channels?
(abc,nbc,cbs,fox)

If using an off-the-air antenna, HR10-250. If using the satellite, there is no such model and probably never will be. DirecTV says they will offer a new DVR that can receive the HD locals, but it's not a TiVo.
The HR10 can get the four "distant networks" you named, from either NY or LA, IF you qualify for a waiver.

Not to hijack this thread, but is there any life expectancy for the DirecTV HD unit with TiVo?
I am building a house and will probably be moving in around late Sep to early Oct. I want one or two of these, and am curious if I need to worry about these things being phased out by then with a DirecTV made unit.

Help!
I've had my TiVo hooked up to my DirecTV for 2 years but somehow since last week my TiVo literally turns off every 11-15 minutes and the reboots (which takes another 5 minutes).
I've rebooted my TiVo box a few times but that has done nothing.
Any ideas? Please help!
Matt

If you get your local HD via DirecTV, then the HR10-250 will be swapped out. (Details to be determined) If you can get your locals via OTA, then the HDTiVo won't need to be swapped out.

MattPlease do not hijack threads. This sounds like a failing hard drive.

I would expect any swapping out to be optional in the forseeable future.

I like the details to be determined part.
They'll probably swap out for free, but charge you a $200 shipping fee.
I'm sure someone will jump in and say - DIRECTV WILL swap out all HDTV/TIVOs for FREE !!!!

mwasowski ,
I had the same problem last week. It takes a "Restore and Delete" and 2-4 hours of doing that and going through the ssetup all over again. And YES, you will lose everything, including shows & settings. Fixed mine though. (information obtaied through tech support at TiVo)

.....unless they turn off mpeg2 and you want TNTHD etc :) But until mpeg2 is turned off, all new national HD will be mpeg2 and hdtivo will be well worth $$$
