I have to agree with the critics - the show is improving and seems to be worth sitting through the first few rather lackluster episodes. I liked this one the best so far, and while it still hasn't grabbed me like some HBO shows (Wire, 6FU), it has me intrigued enough now to stick with it.

The storylines are gaining momentum finally. Nikki - $58,000 in the hole and owing a debt to her daddy. Should be some interesting trust issues in her marriage!

Barb's daughter "sippin' syrup." Funny that her geek friend asked her "what size" - I wonder if 16oz is enough to do any damage - and why did the friend care/know to ask? Something creepy building there....

If you are worried about the neighbors, I don't think clanging pots and pans in the backyard is the best idea, even if it is during an eclipse.

The wolf symbolism was rather heavyhanded, as were Bill's religious responses to his son's girl/wet dream questions. I would have thought that Bill would be a little more down to earth and speak frankly to his boy, but perhaps I misread Bill's reactions to flattop's religious interpretations of the bad dream and wive's prayers for help picking tuna.

At least we got to hear some of Bill and Barb's discussion of adding wife #2 - although I would prefer to see it flashback style. Interesting that the daughter was able to see two sides to the whole thing. Perhaps in a future episode we'll get more.

This was a great episode. I think boss lady is losing control and I also wonder how her health will hold up.

Great episode! Nikki is in some serious trouble! Love the irony between Boss Lady being so excited about a 6 week teaching job (that's gotta be bringing in peanuts) compared to Nikki's $60,000 debt. She is in serious need of some maturity.

Now that there's more clearly defined storylines, plots, and antagonists, there's something to watch. I'm enjoying the stuff with the daughter, questioning polygamy, etc.

Urge to bitch slap Nikki growing. She goes shopping after the meeting with her father? What a piece of crap. Still how does she run up close to 60k in debt without the husband noticing stuff around the house? Unless she is buying nothing but jewelry I find that a wee bit hard to believe. Thankfully another episode without Chet ass.

Pullman's ass usually comes with Goodwin's ass as a bonus.

Don't you mean Paxton? And when have we seen anyone's butt but his? Side butt doesn't count.

Chet was the character played by Paxton in Weird Science. Nice reference Figaro

It is getting better and better. I agree how does one rack up $60K and not have stuff to show for it? Will be interesting to see if she "spies" for her daddy.

And Ginnifer Goodwin ass anytime is great.

BTW - I know others hate it but I love the opening to the show.

I always FF thru it, I"ll have to check it out next time. Damn you Mwhip for getting me hooked.

I thought maybe Nicky bought stuff for the house, but it seems like they all have nice things. Didn't she drop something like 3 grand last week on just curtains?

Is Margene really that stupid that she doesn't know to "play babysitter" when the neighbor comes to the door, and not get insulted about it later?

Nikki calling Suze Orman was hysterical. And then Suze said "do you know your husband is legally responsible for your debts?" Oh, no he's not. In the eyes of the state, they're not married. But if he really had nothing to do with that (i.e. if his name's not on the credit card, which we have to assume it's not, or he'd know about the debt), how could she rack up $58k in debt? She's (as far as anyone knows) a single mom with no job. How did she get so much credit?

All this talk of Goodwin ass? When have we ever seen anyones ass other than Chets?

Really getting into this show. Seems like this last episode pulled me in a bit more... they seem to be getting better as time goes on.

Need more gratuitous sex with NUDITY. Seems to be sorely lacking in an HBO show called BIG LOVE!!

Anyway, I was about ready to give up on the show a couple of episodes back, but like a train wreck, it keeps pulling me back in. I think it kind of has the feel of Desperate Housewives in a way. Does anyone know if the writers are LDS or did they just research it a lot? I'm guessing they didn't research it from South Park (dum, dum, dum, dum, dum)

I loved the scene where Paxton walked from house to house turing the alarm off and on as he reach each one. I am surprised that the only way to get to the third house is to walk thorugh the other two. Seems kind of strange....

This show has the same feel and pace as Weeds... the show not the plant.

He has to always enter the main house or else the neighbors get suspicous. The only reason he had to go through all the houses is he got mixed up on whose night it was.

The other houses have front doors, but Bill doesn't go through them. He can't be seen going through them. He has to go into Barb's house and then go through the back yard to get to the other two. Margene, OTOH, has to go in through her own front door and then go through the back yard to get to Barb's or Nicki's.

I've read that the two creators of the show are gay (Time Magazine), but I am wondering if Mark Olsen is related to Merlin Olsen?

If so, how nasty a slam is the ex-NFL football player character hocking the diamonds out of his Super Bowl ring?

All the Olsen's in the world, and the leap you make is Merlin Olsen? Why not Mary-Kate and Ashley?

Merlin is a Mormon, ex-NFL player, from Utah.
Whatever happened to his flower gig?

Well we know she's a Brand Name Queen (Timberlakes, Gymboree, Gap, etc.) and I have the feeling she doesn't bother trying to buy stuff on sale. The woman is obviously a shop-a-holic, and I'm guessing the interest charges are what make up the most of the $60,000.

Just out of curiousity, what about the opening do you like? It's about the only one I fast forward through. It's probably not fair that I watch it right after Sopranos, though, which has the best theme song/opening of almost any show ever. :)

here's the thing....i see the fence is pretty high but anyone with a 2nd story window on either side of the 3 could definitely see over the fence...so i dont get how they can keep all that private
