Two years old, stutters, pixel-ates, freezes, reboots. The HD is toast.
Two questions:
1. Main concern is current recordings. When I get a replacement, can I still view my recordings on the old unit that will be deactivated? My hope is I can still view the recordings if the unit isn't on full time (and thus, adding more wear to the hard drive). The HR10-250 would last a lot longer that way.
2. I know all about this summer's Mpeg4 HD TiVO. I currently receive local HD channels via Comcast, so there is no rush to get the new unit, but if I can thread together my dying HR10-250 for a few more months, it would save me the $400 to replace it.
The question is: What about the new software in the Mpeg4 units? I am concerned it isn't TiVO, and I am equally concerned if it SUCKS as bad as the Comcast (Motorola) DVR. Anybody know how the new software compares? If it isn't up to TiVO standards, I will immediately replace the HR10-250 and wait until I HAVE to upgrade to Mpeg4.
I appreciate any help. :)
