Hi,

Haven't been here for a long time but I have a couple of questions and I was hoping that maybe somebody can help.

I am setting up a HA/HT system at the moment and I am looking for options to replace my SA8300 with something with a bit more space to record on, OR a better option to offload the recorded content to my unRAID server (not mine trust me, Dora the Explorer and loads of other kiddie stuff).

I would like to be able to have the 2 tuner functionality of my SA8300 so does that mean I am stuck waiting for the series 3, any news on when it is appearing and prices?

Can I connect two HD boxes to my network if this is going to be a long time?

Thanks in advance.

The only thing we know about Series 3 is "second half of 2006". Only speculation about prices so far.

I don't understand your last question. Which HD boxes are you referring to? The only HD TiVo right now is the DirecTV HR10-250.

Steve,

I don't know which boxes are available, that is my question. I have read through as much as possible but I am still a bit confused.

I (my Wife) would want to be able to record one show and watch another, same as my SA8300 from TWC.

I have looked into PC based PVR's but I can not record some of the channels I want for the kids (noggin, nickjr etc).

My SA8300 is full and I would prefer not to delete all the kids shows on it, my daughter watches them all the time.

That is my predicament

Since you are a cable user, the best TiVo solution for you is the future Series 3. There is supposedly a new (SD) Series 2 model coming out "soon" which will support recording two shows at a time, but if one is from a cable box, the other has to be an analog unscrambled channel.

It might make the most sense for you to just get a second 8300 from TWC.
