OK, I admit. I am king of the of the procrastinators . . . question is, did I wait too long?

I bought the HDTivo at Costco on 2/28 and will be activating tonight 3/30 (I already have one HDTivo so it won't be the first HD activation). As I understand it, I should be eligible for the $200 rebate, right? I bought before March and (will have) activated within 30 days.

Also, will this be activated as an owned or leased unit? Should be owned, but what's the downside if they think of it as leased? After all, what good is the thing to me if I bail out of D* (I don't get OTA)?

Or, should I just return it to Costco and wait for the new DVR or go with a true leased unit?

Decisions, decisions . . . .

It should be an owned unit since you bought it before 3/1. You may have to supply DirecTV with a copy of the sales receipt as proof. Also, make sure you send in the rebate info before the deadline. You will also be locked into a 2 yr committment.

Make sure your first bill doesn't say "Lease" on it, my in-laws got that on their bill and were not happy!

And yes they bought and activated in time.

I bought mine mail order on Feb. 28.

I activated it on March 29th.

They claim that they got it setup as owned. From looking at my account online, I don't see anything about a 2yr commitment or lease.

So where exactly would I see any wording of lease or 2yr when viewing my account information online at?

Anyhow for now I can believe I am OK. I do believe however if I want the $200 rebate it would require a 2yr commitment. I don't even know if I have the rebate form or where to get it now if I wanted it.
