The TiVo can be hacked to allow a direct transfer to the PC, see the underground for more info about this.

However, the easiest way is to get a standalone DVD recorder and do a realtime transfer from the TiVo (using the Save To VCR or regular playback).
You could also use an analog video capture device on your PC and do the save that way.

And now for the requisite response. :)
This has been an oft asked question and a search here on the forum would result in many threads on this subject.

If your PC has a video capture card with an s-video or RCA video-in port, your PC can be used just like the stand-alone DVD recorder. Check out hauppage.com.

All the Save to VCR function does is put up a show description screen and disable some remote buttons so that the recording doesn't get messed up. You can also just play the show as you would normally and record it. What I do sometimes is play the show and then pause at a black screen just before it starts, then hit info to bring up the normal description screen and start recording. Then after a few seconds I take it out of pause. Then don't use it until the show has finished recording.

Best thing is you can edit the commercials out and add menus and chapters :up:

And a non-DVD recorder can be used. Just burn the DVD and then rip it to the PC, edit and reburn.

This is something others might already know but i just realized;

I use the Tivo clock,one of the coolest features IMO. So when i go to burn a DVD from the Tivo i just toggle it off.

I just realized last night that when you use the "save to VCR function" it automatically disables the clock and brings it back when your done making your burn.

DTivo is cooler than koolaid!
